Pastor Rodger Prois Image Pastor - Rodger Prois

Pastor Rodger Prois was born and raised in Minnesota. After meeting the love of his life, he moved to the East Coast for his education. He was advised as a confirmation student to consider the ministry, but he was more intent on being in business and followed that path. He was working in the financial services industry when God called him to be a student at Luther/Northwestern seminary (now Luther Seminary) graduating in 1993. Given his sales and marketing experience, his first calls were to start new congregations in Utah and central Wisconsin. That work led him to help congregations redevelop and transform to be vital in the 21st century. A series of events led him to accept a call to serve the ELCA World Hunger and Disaster Appeal in Chicago, then came a move to Iowa where he was eventually called to be bishop of the Western Iowa Synod, ELCA.
When his term as bishop ended, Pr. Rodger was not ready to retire and is now serving Long Lake Lutheran. He feels that the call to be pastor of a congregation is the best call in the church and is loving the people and area of Northwest Wisconsin. He and Christine have been married for 50 years and have two adult children and 4 grandchildren, whom they adore. Pr. Rodger has been a sports fan his entire life. He played football and baseball in his early years, enjoyed mountain biking and racquetball in mid years, and more recently relishes being outdoors on a golf course or fishing from their pontoon.

Director of Music Ministry Kris Knutson Image Director of Music Ministry - Kris Knutson

I graduated from UW-La Crosse in Music Education-Choral and General Music, and have taught at school districts in Arcadia, Birchwood, Flambeau and Spooner, where I currently teach K-4 General Music along with private lessons. I have served churches in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Arcadia in both school and church music capacities. I've also served as Director of Education at Schmitt Music, as a Global Music Intern at Global Mission Events and Trainings. I received ELW training for musicians and introduced the ELW hymnal to congregations in La Crosse Synod. On the performance side, I've served as a musician at numerous La Crosse Area Synod Assemblies and LYO Lock-ins, and have performed with many artists, including Dakota Road, Marty Haugen, Mary Preus, Tom Witt and Anthothy Machado. I've also worked with Susan Briehl and Dave Erlander. One performance I'll always remember was at Carnegie Hall in New York, where I sang with the UW-La Crosse Alumni Choir.

Administrative Assistant Bonnie Hurley Image Administrative Assistant - Bonnie Hurley

I was born in central Illinois and spent a wonderful childhood on Lake Decatur, swimming, water skiing and generally getting way too much sun. A rebellious '60s flower child (since somewhat reformed), I graduated from Illinois State with a degree in Comprehensive Business Education. That led to lots of different jobs, from corn de-tasseling to grain elevator manager to elementary and middle school teacher, with a stint as a farm wife along the way. In 2007 I became the administrative assistant at Long Lake Lutheran upon the retirement of Sharon Butterfield. I’ve also bred, raised and shown dogs for many years, working with many breeds, although Westies are my love. I’ve lived in a number of states and countries, but don’t want to leave the Wisconsin that I have fallen in love with. God guided me with life experiences for my place here at Long Lake Lutheran, and I will be forever thankful for His hand in my life.
